Cabinet components
| Component | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Data acquisition controller | polling of RS-485 lines and gateways, buffering of measurements, transmission to the server, local alarm logic |
| Uninterruptible power supply | keeps the controller, sensors and communications running during a power outage; backup time is calculated for the site |
| GSM/LTE module | backup communication channel, SMS and calls when there is no internet |
| LoRa gateway | receives data from wireless sensors |
| Ethernet switch | connection to the corporate network |
| Terminals and line protection | connection of sensor lines, surge protection |
| Discrete signal inputs | doors, refrigeration unit failure, voltage presence |
| Alarm device control outputs | activation of sirens, beacons and displays on alarm |
On-site alarm devices
| Device | Where to install | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Visual and audible alarm | near cold rooms, in the storage area, at the security post | alerts staff even when phones are unavailable |
| LED display | in the dispatch area, near cold rooms | current values and status without logging into the system |
| Audible alarm on the operator workstation | at the duty officer's desk, in the control room | alarms by group with different sounds and repetition |
SanPiN 3.3686-21 requires refrigerated and freezer rooms for vaccines to be equipped with a temperature alarm and requires a backup power supply for the refrigeration equipment and monitoring devices.
Typical specifications
| Enclosure | wall-mounted metal cabinet, protection rating to suit the installation site |
| Power | ~220 V with UPS; backup time as calculated |
| Interfaces | RS-485 (several lines), Ethernet, LoRa, GSM/LTE |
| Discrete inputs and outputs | as per the design |
| Data buffer | stores measurements while the connection to the server is lost |
| Placement | in a heated room, outside the storage area, with access for maintenance |
Frequently asked questions
How long does the system run during a power outage?
We calculate the backup time based on the number of sensors and the customer's requirements; the UPS is sized with a margin, and the system reports the power loss immediately.
Does a pharmacy need a cabinet?
For a small Wi-Fi or GSM system a separate cabinet is usually not needed; sensors plus a server or the cloud are enough.
