Comparison by criteria
| Criterion | Why it matters | Smartag | Imported logger — what to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approved measuring instrument type in Russia | The EEC Guideline requires valid verification or calibration; in Russia only an approved type can be verified | Type approved: State Register No. 91745-24, certificate valid until 28.03.2029 | Whether the model is in the State Register and the type approval has not expired — checked in FGIS Arshin in a minute |
| Verification | Without valid verification, mapping and monitoring data can be challenged | Procedure MP-779/01-2024, interval 2 years (1 year for humidity models); records in FGIS Arshin, certificate available on the website by serial number | Who verifies this model in Russia, how much it costs and how long it takes; whether the device has to be sent abroad |
| Accuracy for mapping | The EEC Guideline requires an accuracy of ±0.5 °C within the acceptance criteria | ±0.5 °C from −30 to +40 °C; ±0.7 °C above +40 °C | Check the accuracy in the type description, not the catalogue: catalogues often quote the best part of the range |
| Software and report | The report should open without extra software and be clear to an inspector | The USB model generates a PDF report by itself; software in Russian and English | Whether the software works offline and whether a paid subscription or a foreign cloud is required |
| Supply | A mapping fleet is extended and replaced for years — the model should not disappear from the market | Made in Russia by Hladverk Group LLC | Lead times and stock in Russia; with parallel imports the manufacturer's warranty may not apply |
| Service | If a device fails or a report raises questions, you need someone who can answer | Questions are handled directly by the manufacturer | Whether the manufacturer has an official representative in Russia |
| Connection to monitoring | It is convenient to use the same sensors for mapping and continuous monitoring | The Smartag Zond probe connects to monitoring systems with an I2C interface | Whether the device protocol is open or data is available only in the vendor's software |
When an imported logger is a reasonable choice
If the model has an approved type in Russia, is verified here, and you already own a fleet of such devices, there is no need to replace them without a reason. The EEC Guideline recommends loggers of one type for one temperature map, so do not mix models in one study: buy more of the same, or switch the whole fleet before the next seasonal mapping.
How to check any logger in five minutes
- Find the type in Arshin
FGIS Arshin → approved instrument types → search by model name. Note the register number and the certificate validity.
- Open the type description
It lists the range, accuracy by sub-range and the verification interval. Compare the accuracy with ±0.5 °C.
- Check the device verification
Verification results → type number and serial number. Each device needs its own valid record.
- Look at a report
Ask the seller for a sample report: time of each record, serial number, thresholds, summary of excursions.
- Estimate the cost of ownership
Not just the price: verification every 1–2 years, batteries, software and replacements over 5 years.

Frequently asked questions
Can imported loggers be used for mapping?
Yes, if the model has an approved type in Russia, the device is verified and its accuracy is ±0.5 °C or better. The country of manufacture does not matter.
Where can I check whether a logger type is approved?
In FGIS Arshin, approved measuring instrument types. Smartag's register number is 91745-24.
Can Smartag and other loggers be mixed in one mapping study?
Better not: the EEC Guideline recommends loggers of one type for one temperature map so that the results are consistent.
